The 3 “don’t” of being a problem solver
The things nobody wants to tell you, and you should avoid.
Is good to know which are the right things to do in order to archive want you to want, but sometimes nobody is telling you which things “not” to do, and then you learn those on the hard way.
Here there are 3 tips or what is the “not” of being a problem solver:
1) procrastination
This is maybe one of the reasons that could slow you down in your professional career. The question is simple: why let for tomorrow what you can solve today? This is the mindset of a good problem solver, not sit and wait what happens or whether magically tomorrow the problem is no longer there. Change this mindset is not always easy, because of several, different and uniques reasons… or let’s say it properly: thousand of excuses.
A good procrastinator is without a doubt a good excuse maker, which is exactly on the other side of the coin, the side we don’t want.
2) oversimplification
Sometimes simplification is a good approach, for example, if you use “divide and conquer” strategy, you will seek to simplify and isolate individual parts so you can solve each of them as part of the total issue and finally once you close them all, then you will conquer. But, not always you can simplify in this way and moreover if you try to oversimplify things you are not taking into consideration the real issue, and overestimate the situation, and the effect the issue could have. For sure is a delicate line here the deal is to be able to handle this line and know when to cross it or not.
3) over-complicate
On the other side talking about over complicate things when is not necessary, when you can figure it out by planning correctly, is another thing we want to avoid. Over complicate means also introduce confusion, confusion means time-consuming, time-consuming means losing money for your company or employer, those kinds of effects we want to avoid too.
Easy to say but hard to implement right? Is quite a challenge to be in the middle not over complicate or oversimplify too much, just manage things as they are, being realistic enough to face the problem and knock it down.
You can be the next problem solver! Just remember be …
